Take a look at the Lug Stud and you will agree we are on the right TRACK.......
I have been running lug studs. Happy with them and have had them installed in more than one sled. Huge weight savings especially on deep lug tracks. They wear well to.
These are very similar to the inserts you can put in automotive tires and have have personal experience with such studs in winter tires on a vehicle that has been driven with them for the past three (3) winters (November thru April). None of them have ripped out of the tires and they held up extremely well, especially considering they are driven mainly on pavement (when there is no ice/snow) in Ohio.
WOW! Not only does the machine perform well on ice, the lug studs essentially extend the lug height. I would compare it to almost a 1.5+. My buddy has the identical machine and mine seriously outperforms his in powder. His is a bit ahead in glare ice, however anything else, the lug stud rules. All my riding buddies are impressed enough with the performance to become converts. One has even applied them in his new 1.75 lug paddle track. But be careful, some tracks will well accept them and holds up well.
I expect to never return to the conventional picks, even if I went with a low lug. The lug studs far outperform.
